Top NFL-College Football Sports Power Weekends in 2012

Wednesday, April 18th, 2012

There are so many great NFL-college football weekends each fall that it is hard to pare down the list. Nonetheless, here are, in my opinion, the 50 best NFL-college football Sports Power Weekends of 2012. The main criteria for this list was that it must include an NFL and college game. There are plenty of great weekends in September that feature MLB games with a great NFL or college game, but I wanted to highlight weekends that included at least two different football games.

I’d love to hear your feedback if you think I am overlooking a great weekend, or ranked one too high.

For more information about planning or booking a Sports Power Weekend package, please contact Jared Cooper at Jared.Cooper@SPWtravel.com, (646) 397-5350, or via twitter at @SportsPowerWknd.

Top Sports Power Weekends: July 15-17

Games become more important, and with that, memories on Sports Power Weekends become more vivid.

After a horrid stretch, the Marlins are streaking and feeling good as they travel to Chicago to take on the Cubs at historic Wrigley Field. Saturday sees the Chicago Fire host the MLS’s newest team, the Portland Timbers at Toyota Park. The Fire will face Manchester United at Soldier Field in next week’s World Football Challenge (tickets here).

5. Seattle

Friday
  • Rangers at Mariners
Saturday
  • Rangers at Mariners
  • Rapids at Sounders
Sunday
  • Rangers at Mariners

The hottest ticket in MLS is consistently the Seattle Sounders, who playing in an NFL stadium vastly outdraw their MLB counterparts, the Mariners. Both play at beautiful facilities and in front of passionate fans. This is what makes Seattle an ideal SPW getaway this weekend. Check out a Mariners game and  a Sounders game, and enjoy what the rest of the city has to offer.
